When we get our hands on this...

Oh, how our world will change if Patrick Sung’s Universal Packaging System is taken on by the big guys. Designed to fit pretty much anything you would care to ship, the system consists of cardboard sheets that are scored to allow for truly precision packaging.

The geometric pattern will flex and fold along organic contours as well as form the rigid lines of a more familiar standard rectilinear box. This versatility enables one material to do the job currently done by many.

Addressing the potential cost and environmental savings that would be made when reducing shipping volumes is one of the driving factors behind this design. Ironing out a few issues such as the stacking/carrying of irregular objects and dealing with impact resistance and material stress zones is the next step - and we certainly hope that someone takes this concept further. Not only is there potential for shipping efficiency to be taken to the next level; the creative opportunities of reclaimed Universal Packaging and a handful of makedo has our imaginations tingling already.
