Repair Manifesto
Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at 8:10 AM
Emerging from an old, round chapel in Amsterdam is the visionary group known as Platform21. Their goal is to dream about the future and the creative challenges that await us… and how to work with creative people across a range of disciplines to discover outcomes that amaze and inspire.

The current program that is running from the round chapel is called Platform21 = Repairing. It takes the view that repair is a powerful cultural, economic and creative force that is in danger of disappearing from our lives; as ever cheaper products make replacement a choice of convenience. They do maintain that it is not too late - and to help with re-awakening our awareness of repair, a Manifesto was created to help people along. Thought provoking responses are coming in and have been embodied in an event undertaken with Jan Vormann (responsible for the image above), which saw a group hit the streets of Amsterdam in June, armed with buckets of Lego and a keen eye.
We will be sure to feature more from both Jan and the outcomes of programs at Platform21 in the future. This work resonates well with us… as one response to the Repair Manifesto stated, “Repair is about cherishing”.
