National Recycling Week

Awareness of the stuff we throw away is what National Recycling Week is all about. Running through November 9th to 15th, there will be a range of interesting and innovative events all aimed at raising awareness and hopefully changing behaviour for the better.
City of Sydney Swap Party 2008
One of the standout initiatives is the Big Aussie Swap. A runaway success in recent years, individuals and communities are encouraged to host Swap Parties - a fun forum in which to get rid of stuff you don’t want, and to go home with exciting new finds… all without spending a single cent.
The Swap Party rules are simple.
- Bring along quality items to swap. Receive a token for each item from the party host.
- Exchange tokens for goodies - and if two people are after the same thing, it is Winner Takes All with a sudden-death game of Rock Paper Scissors.
Is there a Swap Party on near you? Head over to Planet Ark to find out.
As the slogan at the City Of Sydney’s event says, Swapping is the new Shopping. I’ll give you mine if you give me yours…
