makedo strives for simplicity. So to make making easy we have developed three customised elements – a connector, a hinge and a multifunction tool. These widgets open up the possibility of creation by allowing manipulation and connection of material, over and over.
The connector is composed of two parts - the pin and the clip. The flexible pin passes through up to 19mm of material. The clip clamps the material together from the other side. A simple press of the two buttons releases the parts for reuse.
The hinge can be used in a number of ways. It can pivot freely through 270 degrees or lock into a fixed position at any 30 degree increment. Each hinge is attached using two connectors.
The multifunction tool is used to manipulate the construction material. The punch pierces holes for the pin, whilst the two different blades can cut through various types of card without risk of cutting through skin.
Akin to a software operating system, makedo is a platform. People will find different uses and ways of exposing its potential. So before we finalise the design of each part, we feel it makes sense to pre-release the product in beta and consider user feedback before launching with makedo 1.0. And who knows what other component ideas!
