Inflatable Creatures

In the busy world of New York City commuter hustle and bustle, Joshua Allen Harris has been bringing smiles to many faces with his growing menagerie of inflatable creatures.
Appearing like discarded refuse on the pavement, these seemingly innocuous plastic bags begin to quiver and pulse before springing in to life at the passing of subway trains. The forms are created, tested and refined in his workshop, and then installed above exhaust grills from the subway system.

Addressing the difficult task of catching the attention of New York City commuters, this ad campaign from the Environmental Defense Fund combined the talents of inflatable artist Joshua Allen Harris with a poignant message about Global Warming.

The seaserpent is one of my favourites... it is great how all of the creatures wiggle and jitter, they really come alive.
The polar bears do this particularly well, and the poetic imagery of the forms crumpling and deflating as the subway train moves on is a strong message indeed.
