Holiday Season Gift Wrapping

Two of the best things about gift giving in the holiday season are… first; how awesome your gifts look in their wrapping and second; actually unwrapping them.

We’ve searched around to find some great ways to wrap your gifts with creativity and flair - all without the excessive waste!

Thanks to Wise Bread, their post on 36 Green Gift Wrapping Ideas has sent us into an excited frenzy. Some of our favourite examples are furoshiki, canning jars and using old/tourist maps to wrap your gifts.

Furoshiki hails from Japan as a traditional way to present gifts to people. With a square piece of fabric, you can neatly wrap your gifts and the fabric can be used over and again as bags, headscarves or even cushion covers! See this guide on Etsy and have a go yourself.

Canning Jars are perfect, as they simply require old jars and a little bit of inspiration for gifts like jam, candles or fragile items! A handmade label goes a long way to give it a personal touch. The jars can be re-used and passed on to the next recipient. Further Canning Jar tips here and here.

One of the best and most interesting ways to wrap presents is using old maps. No one present will look the same. Your once obsolete paper maps will find new meaning in their gift-giving… and you don’t just have to stop at wrapping. Check out these great ideas for using maps as personalised decorative elements.

How do you wrap your presents in an eco-friendly way?
