graffiti that grows on you

Social statements are often made by writing on walls. The outcomes are viewed in different ways depending on where you’re coming from, and in recent years there has been an increase in the poetic whimsy of graffiti. UK-based artist Anna Garforth has taken this one step further…

Over several different projects the application of writing in moss has been explored in “an unusual synthesis between advanced civilisation and nature”. The effect is quite beautiful, not only thanks to the thought provoking choice of words. From abandoned church buildings to streetscapes and art galleries, these mossy messages have grown on passers-by and given a whole new context to public art.
