going slow

To many, there is something familiar about the ideas behind Slow Design, but for others it’s a complete revelation. Established by Alastair Fuad-Luke, the Slow Design movement aims to contribute towards more sustainable ways of living.
The poster below (source here) gives a good summary:

For Slow Design to really take off, there needs to be a larger social shift - but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t still be trying to get there in the meantime. makedo is helping us to slow our lives down. The form of play that it encourages is intrinsically slow.

The Slow Manifesto has much depth to it; many insights but also the complexity of the document can be overwhelming. At the core, it makes so much sense to me - much like Slow Food did when it first emerged.
In reading more on Alastair's website, these "innovations" in social thinking seem more and more tangible for our everyday lives.
Guy, I am with you on the Slow Food. Here we are living in a world of fast food and excessive consumer choice. How heartening to think that design can take the route of a home cooked meal.
