From rubbish to rainbows

What catches your eye, when you go for a stroll on the beach?
For Melbourne-based artist and jeweller Liz Jones, it’s the discarded plastic and commercial flotsam that stands out more than pretty shells or weathered driftwood.
Back at the studio, these collections are sorted to become beautiful rubbish rainbows.

Unfortunately, there is no shortage of materials - bottle caps, lids, spoon and sporks create a diverse palette for Liz to work with. A short stroll along the beach will land her with a snapshot of our disposable society in all its technicolour glory.
This style of reclaimed and reused trash artwork may seem familiar… we’ve previously encountered Liz (aka Betty Jo) here and here.

There are more rubbish rainbows to see from Liz on flickr.
