corrugated companions

Cardboard. We just can’t get enough of it. The potential that this simple, everyday source of wonder provides continues to sweep us off our feet.

But it is not only in the world of makedo that cardboard reigns supreme. We were delighted to see clever and interesting approaches to cardboard construction all across the floor at the Royal Exhibition Buildings.   Everyone loved the nifty cafe furniture (below) from Paper Tiger.

Thanks to Visy, there was cardboard as far as the eye could see. From the exhibitor stands complete with architraves and cornices to the tables at Designboom Mart. The contrast between the ornate hand-painted details of the heritage building and the clean, broad surfaces of the cardboard served only to enhance each other’s aesthetic qualities.

The exhibits and displays are all packed away now, recycle bins are bursting at the seams… ready for someone to makedo.
