Circuit Bending

Every child knows that there is more to their toys than meets the eye. For many a tinkering type, the child within never quite grows up. With a little imagination, sometimes old toys can be given new life as creative musical devices. Bent Festival 2010 celebrates the phenomenon of Circuit Bending, defined as the transformation of battery-powered children’s toys to create strange, new and unintended sounds for creative purposes.

The festival spreads across several days and features performances, workshops and installations that all hold true to the core elements of experimentation and play. Expert Benders will be on hand to help guide those new to the scene through this interactive explosion of creativity. So if you happen to be in the neighbourhood, pop down to experience something different between April 22 - 24 in Dumbo (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass), Brooklyn NY.
According to the organisers, it’s fun to watch and fun to do. More info at Bent Festival.
