Cheeming Boey

There are many ways to make use of the humble disposable coffee cup. When a 4c unit now sells for $220 and upwards, something special must be happening. Enter Cheeming Boey, a Malaysian-born cartoonist who has found his own niche on the west coast of America.

Each creation is a labour of love. With meticulous precision, a world of Japanese mythology, pop culture icons and contemporary domestic scenes spread across the smooth white surface.
The act of taking an everyday consumer item such as the coffee cup and transforming it into a unique object of beauty has been an evolving journey for Boey, ever since he stumbled onto the technique in 2006. It all began when he found that he didn’t have any paper handy one day…
